Men’s Club Introductory Letter

Welcome back to our loyal members.  To all of our new members, let me personally welcome you to our club.

We have started another exciting year of golf here at Diamond Woods with road trips, fund raisers and contests.  Each year we make new friends as our club grows.  If you joined online through the OGA program, this is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends and play on our great course.

In October we hold our annual Men’s Club dinner.  At that time we elect new officers including Board of Directors and President. The Men’s Club Board of Directors, officers and committee members volunteer their time to plan, coordinate and schedule events and keep our Bylaws updated, all with the goal of improving your golfing experience.

However the real strength of our Club comes from our members.  We need to know your thoughts and feelings about the activities we put on.  We count on you to help us determine the direction the Club takes.  We are available at the course, or by email, to listen to what you have to say.  We will post upcoming meetings on this website and all Club members are welcome to attend and get involved.  The website is also a great place to leave a comment and start a dialog.  To take advantage of this, go to https://diamondwoodsmensclub.com.

The fun has already begun here at Diamond Woods as our new season started in March.  Some of us have played on a regular basis through the winter months and now with the better weather, more of our golfing friends have come back out to play.

Now is a great time to challenge yourself and improve the level of your play and your knowledge of the game, and resolve to lower your handicap by a few points.  We have an onsite Pro here at Diamond Woods to help with golfing mechanics and knowledgeable golfers who can help with your understanding of the game by knowing relief procedures and other rules that will improve pace of play.  This knowledge can help all of us have more fun shooting lower scores.

I also urge you to take advantage of all the things that the OGA has to offer its members.  Go to their website at www.oga.org to see the many different ways for you to further your involvement in golf through well-organized tournaments, clinics and volunteer programs.  More than half of your dues pay for these benefits, so please take advantage of them.

Come out on a Saturday for 18 holes of friendly competition or join us Wednesday afternoons for 9 holes with the guys. Everyone is welcome no matter what kind of “game” you bring.

The Tournament Committee once again has done a terrific job of putting together this year’s event schedule including the home-and-home matches we play with Trysting Tree Men’s Club for the Applegate Trail Cup. Be sure to block out some dates and join us in the game we all love!

I hope to see you on the course, and that we get to play some rounds together.  Please feel free to contact me by email at:  onrrlines@yahoo.com.

Once again, welcome, have fun, and play often!

Walt Mulford, President
